What is the ST. Nickolas Charity Event and why is it so important?

Our annual Charity Event is to benefit Must Ministries Toy Shop. The Toy Shop is a wonderful program where displaced, in need families can go and select a toy for their individual children. All toy donations the program receives are set up in a “department” store arrangement so families have the ability find “the gift” that may make a difference this holiday.

The St. Nickolas Charity Event was created to collect toy donations from our own adult soccer association based in Cobb County. Our players and their families live in or in counties near to Cobb/Cherokee. We are fortunate that Cobb County Parks & Recreation allow us use of the county fields for our league games.

Toy donations must be new, unwrapped and valued at $25.00 or greater. If the toy requires batteries we ask that they be taped directly to the gift.

Three years ago the YMCA joined us and gave the event a permanent home at Custer Park in Marietta. In 2014 the East Cobber included an articale in the monthly magazine and they have become a St. Nick supporter. Look for us in the Dec 2015 magazine and at East Cobber of facebook

Now we can invite players/teams/individuals that donate to the cause to come out to play (3) small sided soccer games. We offer hot chocolate, candy canes and even over see youth activities for participants. There are special awards for Best Santa Cap, Worst Christmas sweater and Best Christmas themed uniforms.

The entire event is volunteer based, from the staff, the set up & clean up crews, and the game referees. We are local volunteers giving back to our community. Every one participates in the spirit of the event, our goal is to help families and make a difference in a child’s life this holiday season.
